Technology roadmap for coal-fired power plants
Source
International Energy Agency, 2012
Description
The report documents the current status of coal fired power plants and what needs to be done in the next 10 years to reduce CO2 emissions.
Key points
Ultra supercritical pulverized coal combustion units are the most efficient, and are able to reduce CO2 emissions to 740 gCO2/kWh. Deployment of carbon capture and storage (CCS) can further reduce this level, while efficiency can be improved by employing integrated gasification combined cycles (IGCC).
